Where can I find it? Company/Services >>> Channel Manager >>> GetYourGuide
In this article, we will explore how to manage the availability of a service that offers individual and double tickets for sale on the GetYourGuide platform.
We will use a jet-ski service as an example, but this configuration is equally applicable to vehicle rental services such as quads or paddle surf boards, etc.
These jet skis will always be sold as a complete unit, regardless of whether they are occupied by one or two passengers (one or two seats).
In the following video tutorial: Examples of Resource Configuration, we explore the creation of the jet-ski service in detail. We recommend watching it if you have not yet configured your service, to better understand its setup.
Creation of Services and Limitations
Due to limitations on custom ticket names on the GetYourGuide platform (as detailed in the connection tutorial), in the TuriTop panel we must create two services:
- Original Product: The base product, e.g. Jet-ski (1 hour) with 2 tickets: single and double.
- Additional Product: A second product that we will call, for example, Jet-ski Double GYG.
By creating two products, we can link the Jet-ski (1 hour) service with its ‘Individual’ ticket to an Option (Individual Jetski) within a product on GetYourGuide, and the Jet-ski Double GYG service with its double ticket to another different Option (Double Jetski) in that same GetYourGuide product.
Resource and Base Service Configuration "Jet-ski (1 hour)"
Step 1: Resource Creation
First, we will create the resource from the Company tab >>> Resource Manager, naming it "jet-ski". We will assign it a Quantity of 4, as we have four jet-skis in our example, and a Capacity of 2 Seats, which corresponds to the maximum capacity of each jet-ski. This will result in a total available of 8 seats.
Step 2: Service Creation and Resource Sharing
The following step is to create our service and link the corresponding resource.
From the Services tab >>> Create new service, we will generate a tour/activity type service called "Jet-ski (1 hour)".
Once created, we must link the "jet-ski" resource from the Tickets section, selecting it under the "Use shared resource seats" dropdown menu. Additionally, we will set a restriction of 8 seats per event, which is the total capacity of the 4 jet-skis.
Finally, we will create the corresponding tickets for this service. In this case, both the "Individual" ticket and the "Double" ticket will occupy two seats. This ensures that, regardless of whether the booking is for one or two people, the entire jet ski will always be reserved and occupied.
Configuration of the New Service "Jet-ski Double GYG"
This new service will be linked to a new option within your product on GetYourGuide and must be configured as follows in TuriTop.
From the Services tab >>> Create new service, generate a service named, for example, "Jet-ski Double GYG".
The basic configuration must be identical to that of the original "Jet-ski (1 hour)" product, thus assigning the same duration, schedules, and the same resource: in our case "jet-ski", with its capacity (e.g., 4 jet skis with 2 seats each).
On the other hand, and unlike how the original product was configured, in this case, we will check the box for "Assign a resource to a booking". This ensures that the jet-skis are always assigned whole to a booking, even if they have one seat remaining.
Remember that 2 or more services can share the same schedule. You can learn more about how to share your schedules in this article.
Another difference is that in this product (Jet-ski Double GYG) we will not create the individual ticket. We will only create the double ticket, configured to occupy 1 seat, which we have named 'Double GYG' to differentiate it.
By configuring the "Assign a resource to a booking" checkbox, the system ensures that any ticket booking on the GetYourGuide platform, whether for 1 or 2 people, immediately blocks a complete jet-ski, ensuring that the jet-skis are not double-booked and maintaining precise control over the available units.
Ticket Mapping in Each Service
In this step, we will link the TuriTop tickets with the GetYourGuide tickets as follows, as explained in the connection tutorial.
Step 1: Map Tickets for the "Jet-ski (1 hour)" Service
Go to Services tab >>> Jet-ski (1 hour) >>> Channel Manager >>> GetYourGuide.
Link only the "Individual" ticket with the corresponding ticket in GetYourGuide.
Step 2: Map Tickets for the "Jet-ski Double GYG" Service
Go to Services tab >>> Jet-ski Double GYG >>> Channel Manager >>> GetYourGuide.
Link only the "Double GYG" ticket with the corresponding ticket in GetYourGuide.
Creation of Options in GetYourGuide
Once the mapping is complete, you must obtain the TuriTop Product ID for each service and link it to a different option in GetYourGuide.
Step 1: Obtain the TuriTop Product ID
Once you have finished mapping your tickets by completing the previous step, check the "Enable this service for Get your Guide API" option.
Click the button to the right of the "TuriTop Product ID" code to copy it.
Step 2: Create and Link the Options
Log in to your GetYourGuide provider panel and click on the Manage tab to navigate to your Products.
Locate the product you wish to connect and click on "See details".
Within the product page, go to the Options section and create the different options using "Create new option". For example, you can create the options "Jet-ski Individual" and "Jet-ski Double".
Once created, you must connect them using the standard method, as explained in the connection tutorial.
This way, your product will be set up in GetYourGuide with the different ticket options: individual and double, ready for sale on the platform.
Optional: Tiered Pricing
You can configure tiered pricing both in your double service ("Jet-ski Double GYG") and in the corresponding double option in GetYourGuide. This will allow you to set a fixed price per jet ski, even if the booking is made on the GetYourGuide platform for only 1 adult under your double option.
This configuration must be carried out in both your TuriTop control panel and the GetYourGuide panel. To find out how to do this in GetYourGuide, you can consult this article in their Help Center.
Tiered Pricing in TuriTop
To configure tiered pricing in TuriTop, go to the Services tab >>>PX (Double Service "Jet-ski Double GYG") >>> Pricing and Discounts >>> Add Discount. Here you can configure tiered pricing using price variations.
In our example case, we have 4 jet skis with 8 seats in total. Each "Double GYG" ticket has a base price of 40 per person. Since it is mapped in GetYourGuide, if a customer selects, for example, 1 "Adult" ticket, a complete jet ski is occupied and sold for 40.
1. Variation for 2 People (One Jet-ski):
Next, we must add a price variation so that when, for example, two "Adults" (two pax) are selected, the total still costs 40. This is because only one jet-ski is being occupied with its two seats.
We will configure a price of 20 per ticket selected, which will result in a total of 40 upon selecting the two tickets.
2. Variation for 3 People (Two Jet-skis):
Similarly, we must add a price variation for 3 adults. The total must cover the price of two occupied jet skis (one with 2 pax and the other with 1 pax), which is a total of 80.
We will configure a price of 26.67 per ticket, so that the total is 80.01.
In our example case, some quantities result in decimal prices. We recommend always rounding the second decimal place up to avoid losses, although this may vary the final price by a few cents.
You must repeat this process until the maximum capacity of your service is covered (8 pax in this example), establishing a price per ticket that ensures the full cost of the jet skis is always charged.
This way, you ensure that even if a customer selects an odd number of adults in your GetYourGuide double option, the prices are billed correctly for each jet ski used.
Once you create all the variations, they will be displayed as follows in your panel list:
Tiered Pricing in GetYourGuide
To configure tiered pricing in GetYourGuide, access your provider panel and click on the Manage tab to navigate to your Products. Locate the product you wish to connect and click on "See details". Once inside the product page, go to the Options section and select your double option, in our case: "Jet-ski Double" and click on "Edit option".
Next, go to the Availability and Pricing section. To add the tiered prices, click on "Add new princing".
- Pricing Categories: In the Pricing Categories section, select the option "Price depends on age, eg: adults, child, senior, etc." and configure your price categories.
- Capacity: Advance to the Capacity section (this will be automatically imported from TuriTop).
- Prices: Advance to the Prices section. Here you must select the option "I will manually add the pricing configuration" and set the tiered prices for each category, ensuring that they match the prices you have already configured in TuriTop.
Once you have configured the tiered prices on the GetYourGuide platform, your product will be ready for publication as soon as the connection is validated. With this configuration, you ensure that the final prices are consistent with those you have established in TuriTop.
